In 2006, Cindy McDonnell and Laurie Spindler used their creative experience with a background in scrapbooking and stamping to venture into beading.  We decided to open up this store to share our love for the hobby.  The store originally was located in Eldersburg, MD  (the same location that Laurie once choose to open the Second Floor Scrapbook Store).  It was the perfect location for what we envisioned to be a warm and friendly environment.  With the help of all of our talented friends and family our dreams were real.  We opened the door on October 11, 2006 and soon an overwhelming number of local beaders emerged.

In the Spring of 2007, the Spindler family made a decision to see their dreams through and move to Florida (within walking distance to the Disney Gates!!)  If you were not aware, Laurie is a huge Disney Fanatic.  Everything happened so fast and before I knew it she was gone.  Everyone was so worried about the future of the store but mostly all I cared about was this wonderful, supportive, spunky red-head that was the best friend to so many people who was not going to be around to drive us all crazy.  We miss her so much and Eldersburg has never been the same!

During the summer of 2007, an opportunity was presented to me to move the store to Ellicott City, MD which is much closer to my home and family.  I thought about it for a long time and decided it was in the best interest to my husband and kids to make the move.  Once I made the announcement to move I was so moved by the well wishes from everyone.  It was the day of the move that I will never forget.   I kept telling my husband that I had a group of people who were going to help us pack up and move and unload and he just knew no one was going to show up and it would be the two of us.  Well, we started packing and a few people showed up then a few more, then more.  Jeff just looked at me and told me how lucky I was to have so many good friends.  Amazingly the store was boxed up, vans filled and the caravan was on the road all by 9:30 that Saturday night.  The same was true for unpacking.  The following Tuesday we were open and ready for business. 

The new shop has the same homey atmosphere and I look forward to many more years here teaching and learning from all of you.
